Brain in Animal Mode and The Mind Can Make False Thoughts

It amazes me when we have moments of tranquility that suddenly something triggers the sense organs and back again stress, fear, and anxiety come back to the picture. This morning when I was having a pleasant practice of Yogasanas, the breathing was nice and smooth with full focus on the pose. When suddenly the body sensed that I forgot my soap in the bathroom and that the roommate might take a shower with my soap. I observed the feeling of fear and anxiety. It projected different images such as, if that happens, I have to buy a new one. And this recurring thought/feeling process lasted for a couple of minutes. Then like a passing dark cloud, it just went away. As with all of what the mind brings, it just passes away before the blue skies of tranquility settle. If you cling to the feeling then you are in survival mode and this how we are wire - to be animals in survival. This is how our ancestors survived and how the reptilian brain (brain stem) is wire to function. Most of us are just clinging to the reptilian feelings and thoughts that take charge on our daily lives. We take things personal or even at times we can be full of happiness. But these feelings are not permanent and are just temporary. For instance, I can’t bear a picture of someone retaining the same level of anger 24/7. At some point, the level of the feeling will come down.

You are not the perceiver and neither perceives - this is the beginning of freedom. Just watch the movie spectacle. Just watch and be brave and bold. Know that you are now in charge and you are not that false identity (ego) that you created out of impressions, DNA, or Karma.....
